How to Choose a Rhythmic Gymnastics Ball – Complete Guide

How to Choose a Professional Rhythmic Gymnastics Ball (SASAKI, CHACOTT)

Choosing the right professional rhythmic gymnastics ball is essential for proper technique, comfort, and confident performance. Although age recommendations are commonly used, it is important to remember that every gymnast is unique.

General guidelines:

  • Up to age 8 — a 15 cm ball is usually suitable
  • Ages 8–10 — the most common size is 17 cm
  • Ages 10 and older — an 18.5 cm ball is generally recommended

However, these sizes are only approximate recommendations. The correct ball size mainly depends on the gymnast’s hand size and grip comfort. The ball should fit comfortably in the hand and allow smooth control during balances, rolls, catches, and other technical elements.

For the most accurate selection, we highly recommend consulting a coach before purchasing. A coach understands the gymnast’s level, physical development, and individual needs, and can recommend the most suitable size and model.

A properly selected ball supports better progress, confidence, and safer performance during training and competitions.
